This study aimed to explore the experiences and meanings of the online music therapy for the elderly in the COVID-19 era. The on-line music therapy sessions comprising mobile interviews, Youtube sessions and Zoom platform sessions (live synchronous video conferencing system) were conducted for 3 elderly women requiring psychological support from August 2020 to October 2020. Using a phenomenological methodology of Giorgi, 3 categories and 10 sub-categories were analyzed. The results showed there were initial psychological burdens due to unfamiliar online sessions, trials and errors during online sessions and its managements, and therapeutic effects and benefits of online music therapy sessions and tasks towards future music therapy sessions. Based on the findings, various therapeutic strategies were determined. This indicates that online music therapy could be a viable intervention in supporting psychological health of elderly.
